Enjoy and Expand your English with Confluence Scotland’s ‘Language Plus’!
At Confluence Scotland we like to make language live. We offer you personalised English courses to fit your needs and interests, for business or leisure. We also like to share our Scottish culture and heritage with our guests.
We are delighted to offer you, the visiting golf enthusiasts, language tuition to enhance both your enjoyment of the game and your stay in Scotland. We will create a personalised course for you, addressing your particular needs and interests, whether cultural, natural, recreational, or for travel and work. We will of course look at golfing language, both on and off the course. Topics covered could include player’s idiom, specialist vocabulary, golfing commentary and analysis – and small talk for the clubhouse. Our language teaching always incorporates cultural information and this will include golfing etiquette and behaviour.
By the end of your stay you will be telling the story of your latest hole in one with amazing fluency! You will also have discovered much about Scotland, the home of golf.
Our team is led by Dr Alison Hiley, whose work as a language teacher and social historian has given her extensive experience in both a university and business environment and also in Scotland’s tourist industry. All our team members are enthusiastic and experienced communicators, proud to share our country with you. You will be taught at Eskmills, an imaginative new business development in the buildings of a former fishing net factory, on the banks of the River Esk, in the historic town of Musselburgh, famed for fishing and horse racing – and home to one of Scotland’s oldest golf courses. |
