Golf was first played on the East Links, North Berwick in the 17th century, although a nine hole course did not come into being until 1894. It was extended to 18 holes in 1906 with a design provided by five times Open Champion, James Braid and his design partner Ben Sayers. The Glen is a magnificent Golf Course with stunning panoramic sea views over the Firth of Forth and the World famous "Bass Rock". The 13th hole par 3 is one of the best in Golf! Day 4

Play 18 holes at Gullane No 2 - Established 1882
Set on the shores of the Firth of Forth in beautiful East Lothian, Gullane offers three superb links courses, Gullane No.1, 2 and 3. Gullane No.1 frequently hosts final qualifying for the British Open when at Muirfield and has hosted many major amateur events. No.2 has also hosted the Open Qualifying. You will encounter tight fairways, pot bunkers, rough, gorse thickets and well-guarded greens which make playing here a fair but serious challenge. Nowhere on the course do the panorama views get better than from the top of Gullane hill and the 7th tee, described by renowned writer Bernard Darwin as “one of the best views in golf” on a clear day one can see for miles with the Lammermuir Hills, Firth of Forth and the Bass Rock making up the stunning panorama. Gullane Golf Club was established in 1882 although Golf has been played over Gullane Links for more than 350 years. In fact, the history of Golf in this part of East Lothian dates back to 1650 when the weavers of Dirleton played the weavers of Aberlady annually on Old Hansel Monday! Gullane with over 350 years of history is a “must play” for all golfers.
