Day 2

Play St. Andrews New Course
It has frequently been said that if the New Course were not situated next to the Old, then its star would have shone with a far greater degree of brilliance.
Located as it is in the shadow of its illustrious neighbour, the New Course can be considered one of St Andrews' best kept secrets. Opened in April 1895, the course was built in response to increasing demand for golf at St Andrews. The construction of the New Course was paid for by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, which engaged B Hall Blyth, an Edinburgh civil engineer, to design the New Course, and entrusted the layout to Old Tom Morris and his right-hand man David Honeyman. The result is a classic links course which is a first class golfing challenge. The course has the traditional out and back layout, with the 18th green just to the right of the first tee. It also has, in the great St Andrews tradition, shared fairways and even a double green at the 3rd and 15th holes.

Day 4

Play at Crail Balcomie Links
Founded in 1786 the Crail Golfing Society is the seventh oldest golfing society in the world and a bona fide jewel in the crown of Scottish golf. Its Balcomie course is recognised as a true classic, although its sister course, Craighead Links, is by no means filler - it stands on merit alone. Notable features include wide, sweeping fairways, large, expansive greens and sizeable bunkers that are only too happy to provide a temporary home for your ball. Visitors are presented with a true test of Scottish links golf that isn't easily forgotten. The course is a short links course situated at the Fifeness point, 2 miles east of Crail. The course follows the shoreline and you are never far the sea. Many holes climb and tumble along the waters edge. The 4th & 5th offer tempting short cuts across the shoreline and there are a number of holes with steep drops and climbs. A fine test of golf in remote surroundings make for a pleasant round.

Day 5

Play The Jubilee Course
Take up the challenge of one of St. Andrews' other Championship courses. The Jubilee Course, located next to the beach is a true test of golf on a windy day. Opened in 1897, this course was so named to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Marching the length of the West Sands, it is the most seaward of the six courses which comprise St. Andrews links. This is the youngest part of the traditional Links, the dunes are higher and rougher, the scale of the landscape grander than the more landward courses.

Day 6

Play at Ladybank - Established 1879
Those of us who are fortunate enough to play Ladybank on a regular basis are fulsome in our praise of the course and its surroundings. On a fine summer’s day is no finer place on earth – there is no doubt in our minds that this course of outstanding quality and rare beauty.
For visitors interest in the natural beauty of their surroundings Ladybank also provides valuable wildlife habitat for a range of flora and fauna, which is both locally and nationally uncommon. As well as providing character and definition to the course the abundance of woodland, grassland and heather is important to a wide range of wildlife. Ladybank is regularly used as an Open Championship qualifying course. It is a classic heathland course set amongst heather, Scot pine trees and silver birch. Accuracy off the tee is important than length – if you stay off-line expect to be punished for your sins. You will enjoy and remember your Open Qualifying experience at Ladybank!

It’s inviting blend of heatherland and links stems from the fact there are more trees than would normally be found on a links, although is relatively close proximity to the sea and rolling fairways ensures an enjoyable links experience.
