Established in 1887, Irvine Bogside is a Open Championship Final Qualifying course and with good reasons. Situated between the town of Irvine, a racecourse and the River Irvine, this traditional links has all the variety and difficulty you would associate with a top championship course. Today's layout owes much to the design of the much heralded James Braid, and in keeping with other links on the Ayrshire coast, the rolling bumps and valleys of the fairways are flanked by gorse and heather. The Course requires spot on approach. The reward for good shot-making is on the green, where you find some of
the best putting surfaces in the Southwest area.

Day 3

Play at Prestwick
Prestwick Golf Club was founded in 1851. This is where the greatest championship of them all began, the birthplace of “The Open Championship” in 1860. Prestwick is steeped with history and tradition and is a mecca for golfer’s who love the history of golf. Playing a round on this hallowed turf is a real honour where you will be walking in the footsteps great legends such as young Tom Morris, perhaps the first ever golf superstar.

Day 4

Play at Western Gailes
Western Gailes Golf Club, founded in 1897, is situated on the Ayreshire coast of Scotland where many of the finest Scottish golf links are located.
It is recognised as one of the finest and true links courses in Scotland measuring 6714 yards from the championship tees. The course has played host the Curtis Cup, PGA Championshio, Seniors and prestigious Scottish Amateur Championship. It is also one of the final qualifying courses when the Open is played at Turnberry or Royal Troon.
The clubhouse, with its view of the hills of Arran and the sharp outline of Alisa Craig standing out from the shimmering sea, gives an instant picture of the delights Western provides and the comforts it affords to all who visit the club.

Day 5

Play at Glasgow Gailes
Glasgow Gailes is the seaside outpost of the Glasgow Golf Club, the 9th oldest golf club in the world. It lies in the heart of Scotland´s Ayrshire Golf Coast only a few miles from Preswick and Royal Troon and within easy reach of the other famous Open Championship venue, Turnberry. This classic Scottish links enjoys a well earned reputation for the strength of it´s challenge and for the quality of its facilities. The layout is the work of Willie Park Jnr, Open Champion in 1887 and 1889 and was completed in 1912. Willie Par Jnr was responsible for more than 170 courses around the world and considered his work at Gailes among the heather and gorse as among his best.

Day 6

Play at Kilmarnock (Barassie)

The course itself is a Open Championship Final Qualifying venue with a well deserved reputation for some of the best maintained greens in Scotland. The club has undergone considerable changes over the past few years and not only has twenty seven holes with which to test the golfer but also has much improved facilities in the clubhouse and professional’s shop The new nine holes are now part of the championship course and have added a different dimension to Barassie with a Par of 72 and a Standard Scratch of 74. The course measures at just under 7000 yards and the new holes provide some wonderful challenges perhaps no more so than the par 3 fourth hole or the quirky double dog leg par 5 eighth.
The course is tough, but is typically what Scottish Links golf is about - large undulating greens, deep bunkers and doglegs. The course has generated some excellent publicity in recent years having been host for the British Amateur Championships in June 2001 along with Prestwick Golf Club and played host to the European Youths Championships the previous year. The Open Championship at Royal Troon in 2004 saw Barassie play host to the Junior Open Championship.

Day 7

Play at Trump Turnberry
The Alisa Course is a real test of golf with a awesome stretch of coastal holes, intermingling turbulent dunes and rocky cracks, represent links golf at its best. Named after the landmark “Alisa Craig” holes four through eleven which play alongside the sea are among the most beautiful and demanding as anywhere in the world. Turnberry graduation to the envied ranks of host the Open Championship came in 1977. Where Watson and Nicklaus went head to head in what became known as “The duel in the sun” which was one of the most exciting finish you’ll ever witness.
